Watching your live CCTV cameras on your iPhone or iPad is nothing new. We have been selling smartphone compatible digital video recorders (DVR) and DIY CCTV systems for years.
So it's no surprise Fulham football Club has installed a commercial CCTV system at Craven Cottage which can be monitored and controlled by their stadium staff using an iPad and smartphones.
All the CCTV cameras are IP (internet protocol) HD (high definition) cameras which use a traditional ethernet network to transmit images instead of coax or RG59 cable. Video is saved and stored on the football club's network allowing access using any wireless device able to connect to their private network.
By moving their fingers across the screen of iPads and iPhones, security personel can view and control any one of the 63 cameras in the stadium while on the move. Images from the HD cameras allow the football club to zoom in on any part of the stadium or crowd trouble to monitor anti-social behaviour, instantly to identifying offenders.
The football club are also hoping to take the technology further using video analytics. Eventually they can introduce facial recognition to easily identify known troublemakers before they have even entered the stadium.
